About Transformation

First and foremost, I am an Integral and Transpersonal Psychotherapist. In 2012, I earned my Masters degree in Integral Counseling Psychology through the California Institute of Integral Studies. Integral Counseling essentially draws upon the major spiritual traditions from the East such as various Yoga and Buddhism pathways and combines them with depth psychotherapy from the West. Depth-oriented psychologies include Psychodynamic, Jungian, Humanistic, Family Systems, Gestalt, and Transpersonal. This form of therapy helps to develop insight into unconscious, internal conflicts that restrict a person from living authentically. These conflicts can lead to certain symptoms and conditions. I use this form of therapy to assist a person to realign to their core self, alleviating unhelpful defenses and symptoms.

Since that time, I've developed my craft in several ways. One way has been through accumulating new techniques such as Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy along with the Flash Technique for the treatment of trauma and HeartMath Biofeedback to support regulating the nervous system. These techniques accompany traditional talk therapy, have more specific protocols, and assist the body to process material in ways that go beyond areas in the brain we usually access through communication and conscious thought.  Another way I've developed my craft is by tapping into other theoretical models and modalities for counseling such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT). I've found all of these forms of therapy to be immensely valuable for understanding what our limiting beliefs are, how they are running certain conflicts, and what new beliefs need to be implemented to empower helpful change.

My Style of Therapy

The style of therapy I have cultivated offers a transformative pathway helping you to strengthen your core self. When people go through trauma, hurt, or unhelpful social conditioning, they tend to fragment and move away from their authenticity, but it's that fragmentation that perpetuates symptoms and limiting beliefs. HoloMind Therapy was named after a concept of wholeness and the aim is to restructure that fragmentation bringing you back to your whole self thereby strengthening your psychological core. The goal is not to 'fix' you but to empower you to live from your authentic self. It's from this state that you can confidently navigate any mental landscape including the great unknown.

Personal Background

On a personal level, I grew up in a diverse family where some of my family members were religious, others were deeply spiritual and interested in many forms of spirituality, and others were atheist and agnostic. Personal choice was valued and difference was accepted and supported. The culture I've encountered in Washington state also reflects this sentiment and I've integrated these values for myself. Consequently, I've explored of number of different spiritual traditions and practices, hold an underlying agnostic perspective when seeking meaning, and am fascinated by scientific inquiry particularly in the field of astrophysics. During and after graduate school, I dove into meditation and Yogic, Buddhist practices. I've studied under teachers and on my own. It has been incredibly impactful, and meditation literally changed my brain. Although many of these practices can be amazing and propel one into beautiful states of mind, I know such practices can also bring to the forefront internal conflicts, mental health crises, experiences with abusive individuals or systems, and other challenges where it can be helpful to receive mental health support and validation.

What I Strive For

Overall, I strive to provide a warm and affirming therapeutic environment to discuss these types of experiences and more. I hope to help people feel comfortable sharing their psycho-spiritual journey to better process mental health concerns that they may otherwise be reluctant to share with a mental health provider. These journeys can often entail certain obstacles and challenges along the way such as depression, anxiety, trauma, old wounds resurfacing, etc. At heart, my philosophy is person-centered and I strive to partner with each client to support them with integrating profound experiences and releasing the constrictions to their core self.
